This project focuses on designing a sustainable building that meets the program and occupants’ needs far into the future by adopting either a “high road” or a “low road” approach, as detailed in the readings. The building must also exhibit resilience, maintaining its purpose and function during extreme shocks like flooding or energy supply decreases. The aim is to create an adaptable structure that resonates with its culture and community, enhances experiences, performs well, and improves systemic relationships within and beyond the site. The holistic design approach involves understanding the site deeply, considering factors like thermal comfort, and extending the focus to the neighborhood scale. By identifying opportunities and addressing challenges, the design aims to contribute to a sustainable, resilient, and long-lasting built environment.
