This project aims to create a design for an outdoor or semi-outdoor Bus Stop located at the corner of Henry Ave and School House Lane on the Philadelphia University campus. This corner is frequented by a high volume of pedestrians, mainly PhilaU students and faculty, as well as hosting a bus stop. The heavy vehicular traffic, particularly on the congested four-lane Henry Avenue during rush hours, poses safety concerns. The project’s rationale emphasizes holistic design for sustainability, starting with a deep understanding of human comfort and its impact on energy consumption. The goal is to identify opportunities and overcome challenges, resonate with the culture and community, enhance experience, and improve systemic relationships within and beyond the site. This project involves gathering information from various perspectives to offer adaptive design options.
